Spring break is finally here! I hope you enjoy your time next week and get to relax somewhere warm. Here is what we've done this week in Room 315...
Phonics/Grammar: We learned how to identify and write complex sentences (dependent clause + independent clause=complex sentence). We practiced commonly misspelled words. We played a few fun rounds of SPARKLE to practice our spelling words and other challenging words.
Reading: We worked on oral reading fluency, finding main idea and supporting evidence for short passages, learning whether a question is a "text" question where the answer can be found in the actual story or whether a question is a "clue" question where we have to infer the answer based on clues in the passage. We read in our book club books and took online comprehension quizzes when finished.
Writing: We read related passages and practiced writing our constructed and extended responses.
Math: We completed our geometry unit and took the touchstone on comparing and contrasting plane shapes based on their attributes. We began our addition and subtraction review of numbers within 1000. We revisited more challenging concepts, such as finding equivalent fractions on a number line.
Social Studies: We learned about Thurgood Marshall and his appointment to the US Supreme Court. We talked about his fight for equality in America.

Encourage reading and practicing math skills on the break. A long car ride is a great time to get some time in! We can't slack off now!
Mrs. Groeneveld's third grade class is collecting old pantyhose for a project. Send in your donations the week of April 10th!
