December 13th Update...

We are winding down 2019! Check out below to find out what we've been doing in class this week...

Phonics/Grammar: We began talking about prefixes and how these word parts can change the meaning of root words.  We also continued our discussion of correct pronoun/antecedent agreement. Please emphasize correct use of grammar when your child is speaking at home, as this will transfer over to correct use of grammar in writing.

Reading: We worked in small groups on inferencing skills when reading stories.  We worked on our oral reading fluency. We also read from our One and Only Ivan book and practiced decoding challenging vocabulary.  We continued our unit on folktales, myths, and legends and wrote retellings on several passages.

Math: We reviewed our important concepts from quarter two and took a final assessment (coming home today).  We also began our unit on graphing. We learned how to take a survey, record our results on a tally table, and then use that information to create and interpret a graph.  We worked hard to memorize our x6 multiplication facts and took a short quiz.  We also began looking at constructed response type questions in order to prepare for the Milestones assessment.
