How can we only have one full week of school left??? This year went by way too fast! I am not ready to get rid of these kiddos just yet. Check out below what we've done this week...
Reading: We finished up our Edward Tulane book and discussed the theme of the story. We wrote our final thoughts about the story. We took our final Reading Touchstone Assessment.
Science: We learned about animal and plant adaptations which allow them to survive in their environment. We also had a speaker from Wellstar who taught us about summer safety and the importance of helmets and seatbelts. We also worked in collaborative groups to design and construct a snowman house that would keep an ice cube from melting for the longest period of time. We applied our knowledge about insulation and conduction.
Math: We continued to practice application of the algorithm in addition and subtraction to the hundred thousands. We took several timed tests on our multiplication facts.
Writing: We looked at several fairy tales and used the same writing strategies when writing our fairy tale adaptations.
Class News...
Remember to return the self-addressed and stamped brown envelope to me by next Friday.
Congratulations to Ashlen, Tristan, Amari, and Ashley for winning the STEM challenge. They constructed a house that insulated the ice cubes (aka snowman) for the longest period of time. They were featured on the news Wednesday morning.
Thank you to everyone who donated supplies for this STEM challenge.
Thank you to Mrs. Newlin for organizing our class's Third Grade Party.
