April 26th Update...

Hi Parents and Students!

We had a great week!  The Milestones are behind us and we are ready to finish the year strong.  Thank you to Mrs. Reeves, Mrs. Land, Dr. Gitonga, Mrs. Duren, and Mrs. Newsome for sending in testing goodies!  The kids loved having the special treats each day.  Check out below to see what else we've been doing in class...

Reading: We finished up our read aloud, Horns and Wrinkles, and began The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We also began studying fairy tales, both the classic versions and fractured versions, to be prepared for our fun writing unit!

Writing:  We finished up and revised our Easter Bunny stories and then began preparing to write our fractured fairy tales, where we will create our own version of a classic.

Math:  We reviewed all of our third grade math standards and took an assessment to see what we still need work with. We learned the algorithm  for  adding and subtracting numbers into the thousands when there is regrouping involved.  We played a game to practice math fluency and took our math facts quiz.

Class Announcements...

Yearbooks went home on Thursday if you preordered one. If you are interested in purchasing one, PTA has a limited number available for $50 cash only. Contact PTA if you are interested.

On field day, we will allow all the third graders to sign each others yearbooks. We will provide an autograph book for those who did not purchase a yearbook. Please do not send in the yearbook any other days.

Field Day is May 13th. There will not be tug-of-war this year.  They will be having the tug-of-war during regular PE class on another day.

Our Author's Breakfast is  on May 20th. All are welcome to celebrate the amazing writing we've done this year.  Please feel free to invite grandparents and other special guests if you would like.
